Find Calhoun Jail Releases

To find someone released from Calhoun County Jail, first determine whether the person left local custody or moved to another custodian. Calhoun County has an unusually small detention setting, so one local entry may record only intake and transfer. A later release may belong to a receiving jail, the Illinois prison system, a federal agency, or immigration custody. Accurate Calhoun County Jail release research therefore follows the person across agencies and treats each transfer as a custody event, not as proof that the person entered the community.

Calhoun Jail Release Paths

A Calhoun County Jail record can end in local discharge or transfer. Local discharge may follow a court-authorized pretrial release, bond, dismissal, acquittal, time served, or completion of a short term. Transfer means another agency took custody. That agency may be a receiving county or city jail, the Illinois Department of Corrections, the U.S. Marshals Service, or ICE. The distinction matters because disappearance from Calhoun's records does not establish community release.

The 2019 IDOC inspection described a transfer-based model at that time. It named an arrangement then in effect, but the report is not evidence of the current receiver. For a present case, ask the sheriff which agency is named in the outgoing transfer entry. Then ask that receiver for its admission and final discharge or transfer event.

Two-record rule: Calhoun documents intake and the outgoing event. The receiving custodian documents what happened after arrival.

Confirm Calhoun Jail Release

Begin with the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office. Its official page supplies contact information and says the office is available 24 hours. That phrase describes office availability. It is not a rolling release list, and the official navigation and forms sweep found no current roster or recent-release feed.

  1. Give the full name and a narrow custody date range. Ask whether the outgoing event was discharge or transfer.
  2. If transferred, request the receiving agency or destination as maintained and disclosable.
  3. Check the Calhoun case in Judici for the court order or disposition.
  4. Request the chronological record when the exact time and code matter.
  5. Contact the named receiver for the later physical release record.

A court order explains legal authority, but not always the moment jail processing ended. A dismissal can coexist with a hold. A sentence to IDOC is a transfer into state custody, not release from all custody. Compare the signed order with the two agencies' timestamps before describing the outcome.

Calhoun Jail Records Contact

The sheriff is the first routing contact for a recent Calhoun arrest. Ask for existing records, not a new narrative. A focused request seeks the booking or intake sheet, custody-location history, date and time received, date and time discharged or transferred, recorded reason or code, receiving agency if public, charges, and booking photograph when and if available.

The county FOIA page accepts written requests by mail, email, fax, or delivery, and use of its form is optional. Ordinary responses are generally due within five business days, subject to lawful extension. That response framework does not promise same-day confirmation or final production in every case.

Calhoun Jail's Two-Bed History

In the 2018 inspection snapshot, IDOC described a detention area built in 2012 with one double detention room, rated for two men and no women. In the 2019 inspection snapshot, the report said the facility then did not hold detainees and moved people who needed more than two hours of detention before court to nearby facilities. These facts explain the local records problem, but they must stay tied to their dates.

No current official standing receiver was verified in the 2026 research. The Illinois Sheriffs' Association still describes a two-bed jail, yet that directory does not establish the present transfer contract or actual destination in a named case. The safe route is always case-specific: obtain Calhoun's transfer field, identify the receiver, then follow that custodian's record.

The official sheriff page shown here is the source for the current local contact route.

Calhoun Release Record Chain

Illinois FOIA section 2.15 makes chronological custody fields especially useful. It identifies the date and time a person was received, discharged, or transferred from agency custody. It also identifies a photograph when and if available. A request should preserve the agency's exact terms. “Transferred” should not be rewritten as “released” because the first means custody continued elsewhere.

Record sourceWhat it can establish
Calhoun sheriffArrest, intake, local discharge, or outgoing transfer
Receiving jailAdmission after transfer and later discharge or movement
Calhoun courtBond, pretrial order, disposition, sentence, or probation
IDOC searchState admission, status, sentence, and release information
Federal or ICE sourceStatus within that agency's separate custody system

Transport can create a gap between one agency's transfer time and another agency's receipt time. That difference is not automatically an error. It may reflect travel and separate intake. Preserve both timestamps and ask each office about its own record.

Calhoun Release to ICE

An ICE detainer may produce two release events. The first ends Calhoun criminal custody and hands the person to immigration custody. The second, if it occurs, ends ICE detention. A Calhoun entry that says transferred to ICE therefore cannot be described as community release.

Use the local transfer record first. Then use the ICE locator or Enforcement and Removal Operations contact for the immigration stage. ICE states that its locator may include people released from ICE custody within the prior 60 days. An empty search outside that window proves little about older custody. Exact identity fields also matter.

Discharge
The end of one agency's custody, which may or may not lead into the community.
Transfer
A handoff from one custodian to another.
Detainer
A request tied to another agency's custody interest; it does not itself describe final release.

Request Calhoun Release Records

Keep the written request narrow. Identify the person, useful identifier, arrest date, and a short date range. Ask for electronic copies of the booking record and chronological custody entries. State that existing records are requested and that no new report needs to be created. Also request segregable, nonexempt portions and the legal basis for any withholding.

Calhoun's published fee schedule lists the first 50 black-and-white letter or legal pages at no charge, later pages at $0.15 each, oversized pages at $0.40, certification at $1, and certain media or color copies at actual cost. Postage may be added. Electronic delivery can reduce cost. When a receiver owns the later record, send a second request there rather than expecting Calhoun to create facts held by another agency.

For broader search paths and the meaning of county release fields, use the Calhoun County released-inmates search. For a short recent window, the Jail Releases: 24 Hours page explains the phone, court, and records-request fallback in the absence of a local feed.

Review a response field by field. Check whether discharge and transfer use separate codes, whether a destination is present, and whether each time belongs to Calhoun or the receiver. If a photo is missing, ask whether none exists, it was withheld, or it fell outside the request.
